Tria-Sloth

The River Dart, Devon,  2013

Tria-Sloth took place on the River Dart, forming a journey from Schumacher College, Dartington to The Maltsters Arms pub in Tuckenhay.

Influences and extracts from Homer’s Odyssey, Alice Oswald's Dart and John O' Donohue's The Four Elements weaved into the physical route.
It was an early experiment in creating an interactive performance that was highly experiential and closely related to the environment of the river.

Tria-Sloth travelled along the river by bicycles, a canoe and on foot. It took place over the course of 8 hours, with participants travelling in the direction of the ocean. The journey was based on the structure of a triathlon, but with an emphasis on the quality of slowing down.

Passing a siren who sang at the meeting point of the river and sea. Down through a town to know the history of the river and its role in industry. Walking along the river through the woods, listening to the layers of the earth. Retelling memories of the river and how it adapts and is related to with time.
